TRAVELING BY CAR

Located just north of downtown Ridgeway, Martinsville Speedway is one of NASCAR’s most historic and distinctive venues. Often nicknamed the “Paperclip” because of its shape, the track is known for intense short-track racing and memorable Playoff moments. With plenty happening around the circuit, a race weekend here can offer much more than the on-track action alone.

Because race days bring heavy traffic, the Speedway strongly encourages fans to arrive early. If you have a parking pass, review the instructions in advance, as some lots have specific entry routes. Local police and parking staff will guide vehicles into the appropriate areas as lots open.

Directions

• From the South (Greensboro / Ridgeway area): Take US-220 North and follow the signs directing you to Speedway parking as you approach Ridgeway.
• From the North (Roanoke): Travel via US-220 South through Martinsville and continue following posted signs for the Speedway.
• From the West (Winston-Salem): Take US-158 East to US-220 North, then follow the designated Speedway signage.
• From the East (Danville): Use US-58 West to connect to US-220 South and continue toward Martinsville following the posted directions.

Approximate driving times

• Greensboro, NC – about 50 minutes (45 miles via US-220 North)
• Roanoke, VA – roughly 1 hour 15 minutes (65 miles via US-220 South)
• Winston-Salem, NC – around 1 hour 15 minutes (70 miles via US-158/US-220)
• Danville, VA – about 50 minutes (40 miles via US-58 West/US-220 South)
• Charlotte, NC – approximately 2 hours (110 miles via I-85/US-220)

Extra tips

• Expect increased traffic around Ridgeway and Martinsville in the hours before the race starts.
• Follow instructions from traffic officers and parking attendants, as routes can change on race weekend.
• Stick to official Speedway parking areas, as roadside or private business parking is often restricted.
• Getting there early reduces stress and gives you extra time to enjoy fan zones, displays and pre-race entertainment before the main event.
