Traveling by air

Martinsville Speedway can be reached by air more easily than many fans expect. Although there is no large commercial airport directly in Martinsville, several regional and international airports are located within comfortable driving distance. Private and charter flights are also a popular option for race weekends.

Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) – Greensboro, NC

• Overview: The closest major commercial airport, serving mainly domestic routes with some international connections.

Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) – Roanoke, VA

• Distance to Speedway: Around 63 miles, roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by car (north)
• Overview: A practical regional airport with regular flights to major hubs such as Charlotte, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
• Transport options: Rental cars are available on site, with taxis and limited rideshare services also operating in the area.

Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU) – Raleigh, NC

• Distance to Speedway: About 110 miles, approximately 2 hours by car (southeast)
• Overview: A larger airport offering a wide choice of domestic flights plus international connections, making it a good option for long-distance travellers.
• Transport options: Extensive rental car availability and shuttle services. The drive to Martinsville is relatively straightforward via I-40 and US-220.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) – Charlotte, NC

• Distance to Speedway: Around 140 miles, about 2 hours 15 minutes by car (southwest)
• Overview: One of the busiest airports in the United States, with numerous nonstop domestic and international flights.

Private aviation

For private or charter flights, smaller regional airports such as Blue Ridge Regional Airport (MTV), located roughly 10 miles from Martinsville Speedway, provide quick and convenient access. These airports are frequently used by corporate travellers and private aviation guests during major NASCAR weekends.
