RULES FOR VISITORS

As with any NASCAR event, visitors attending the Cook Out 400 in Ridgeway are expected to respect the rules established by Martinsville Speedway. Security staff will be present throughout the weekend to help ensure a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for all fans.

Prohibited items

To protect both spectators and participants, certain items are not allowed inside the venue. Anything considered unsafe, disruptive, or potentially hazardous will be refused at the gate. This also includes unauthorised resale of tickets or merchandise within the Speedway grounds.

All guests must pass through security screening when entering. Anyone who refuses inspection may be denied access without a refund. To avoid delays or issues, it is strongly recommended to review the official Speedway guidelines in advance. Below are some commonly restricted items (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Aerosol products (except sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitiser,r and insect repellent)
  • Balloons, beach balls, frisbees, or other throwable objects
  • Ceramic or glass containers of any type
  • Folding or collapsible chairs
  • Displays of the Confederate flag
  • Drones or other unmanned aerial devices
  • Dry ice
  • Firearms or weapons of any kind
  • Fireworks and pyrotechnic devices
  • Hard-sided or foam coolers (any size)
  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances
  • Knives longer than 3 inches when folded or 6 inches when open
  • Laser pointers
  • Multi-tools with knife blades exceeding 3 inches
  • Monopods, tripods, and selfie sticks
  • Air horns, noise-makers, or similar devices
  • Clothing with offensive or explicit imagery
  • Seat cushions containing metal components
  • Skateboards, hoverboards, roller skates, bicycles, and electric bikes
  • Umbrellas
  • Wagons

What you can bring

Keeping things simple will make your Cook Out 400 visit more comfortable. Bring essentials such as your race tickets for each day, a fully charged phone, spare batteries or a power bank, and some cash for food, drinks or merchandise. Adults should carry a valid photo ID, and having identification for children is also recommended. Travelling light helps speed up security checks and leaves you more time to enjoy the event.

Items generally permitted inside Martinsville Speedway include:

  • Bags: Up to two per guest (backpacks, diaper bags, clutch bags, or waist packs), each no larger than 18" x 18" x 14"
  • Binoculars, headsets, and scanners, if worn around the neck, belt, or carried in a clear bag
  • Cameras, if worn or carried in a clear bag
  • Cigarettes and lighters
  • Clear pre-packaged food and beverages, including alcohol, stored in a transparent bag or soft-sided cooler (no glass containers)
  • National flags attached to small wooden sticks that do not obstruct views
  • Ice
  • Insulated drink cups up to 64 oz capacity
  • Tablets, laptops, and similar personal electronics
  • Seat cushions without metal components
  • Service animals
  • One soft-sided cooler per guest (maximum size 14" x 14" x 14")
  • Sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitiser and insect repellent in aerosol, gel, or liquid form
